Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Tallie Up (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a mobile application for tracking shared expenses in groups (“circles”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App or this website.

2. Data we collect

We collect only what is needed to run the product:

• Guest use: circle and preference data stored on your device (local database). No account is required for basic guest use.
• Account information (when you sign up): email, password (handled by our auth provider), display name, optional avatar, Tallie ID / shareable code, and preference settings (theme, default currency).
• Circle & ledger data: circles you create or join, members, expenses, settlements, notes, and receipt attachments you add.
• Friends & invites (signed-in): friend relationships and circle invite metadata needed to share circles.
• Device telemetry: an anonymous install identifier may be recorded and linked to your account after sign-in for operational metrics. We do not sell this data.

We do not collect payment card numbers in the App. Paid plan upgrades (Plus / Pro), free trials, and offer/promo codes are handled by Apple or Google through in-app purchase. RevenueCat helps process purchase metadata so we can unlock entitlements on your account. We do not track your precise location.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and maintain Tallie Up (local storage and, when signed in, cloud sync).
• To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• To let circle members see shared expense data within circles they participate in.
• To operate friends and invite features when you are signed in.
• To understand aggregate install / usage health (anonymous telemetry).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Storage & security

On every device, circle data is written to a local SQLite database first (offline-first). When you are signed in, data is synced with Supabase (PostgreSQL) using Row Level Security so other users cannot read circles they are not members of. Data in transit uses TLS. Review security practices regularly as the product evolves.

5. Data sharing

• Within circles: members can see expenses and balances for that circle.
• Friends / invites: limited profile information (such as display name and Tallie ID) is shared as needed to complete friend requests and invites.
• Infrastructure: we use Supabase for auth, database, and storage, subject to their privacy terms.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose data if required by law.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. Contact hello@tallieup.app to exercise these rights.

In-app account deletion removes your personal data from our systems where available; you can also contact hello@tallieup.app. Circle history involving other members may be retained for those members’ records.

7. Cookies & this website

The Tallie Up mobile app does not use browser cookies. This marketing website does not use advertising or analytics cookies; only what your browser needs to load the pages.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be noted by updating the date above and, where appropriate, via the App or email.
